The Emergency Homeowners’ Loan Program (EHLP), created through the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform, is designed to give an interest-free loan to those struggling to make their monthly payments due to unemployment, underemployment, illness or injury.
The EHLP program will help qualified homeowners make their mortgage payments for two years or $50,000. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) runs the program and should help thirty-thousand homeowners who are in trouble with mortgage payments.
